COVID-19 AND WIPA EVENTS UPDATE

COVID-19 AND WIPA EVENTS UPDATE

As you will be aware, there is growing concern around the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19), with the government advising that people shall practice social distancing.

In line with our social responsibility to the members of WIPA, and considering the health of
members of our community, WIPA has made the tough decision to postpone all events until
further notice.

In response to the threat, Wedge Island Protection Association is adhering to the
recommendations of the State and Federal Government, and their respective Health
Departments.

ANZAC Day dawn services have been cancelled by the Federal Government so WIPA must
adhere to this and cancel this year’s ceremony held at Wedge Island.

The State Government has banned all non-essential travel between regions, as Wedge is in the
Wheatbelt region any not living in this region is banned from entering unless you specifically exempt.
Police have the power to enforce these restrictions with fines up to $50 000.

If you are feeling unwell you should follow the latest WA Health Departments advice, which can
be found here: https://ww2.health.wa.gov.au/Articles/A_E/Coronavirus

The WIPA committee would like to remind all members and visitors who live in this region and
visit Wedge to take action to minimise the spread of infection by: frequently washing hands with
soap and water or using hand sanitiser, follow social distancing recommendations of keeping
1.5m apart and avoiding touching one’s face. Please be aware that anywhere, only 2 people can
congregate, unless it is your direct family that live under the same roof as you.
