DPaW is planning on installing a water bore next to new fire water tank in the middle of the settlement on the 23rd May 2016. This will provide the ability to top up the tank to support FESA firefighting activities should they be needed in the Wedge Island area in future.
DPaW have noted that funding for the bore and tank have been split between the National Bushfire Mitigation Program (which is facilitated by FESA and the Office of Bushfire Risk Management) and the Squatter Shack Trust. The firefighting installation was a recommendation of the Wedge Fire Management Plan developed in 2014 by Strategen Environmental Consultants.
