20 Mar COVID-19 and WIPA Events
As you will be well aware, there is growing concern around the spread of Cornavirus (COVID-19), with the government advising that people should practice social distancing where possible.
In response to the thread, Wedge Island Protection Association is adhering to the recommendations of the State and Federal Government, and their respective Health Departments.
In line with our social responsibility to the members of WIPA, and considering the health of members of our community, WIPA has made the tough decision to postpone the following events until further notice: Easter ball; Easter fun run.
ANZAC Day dawn services have been cancelled by the Federal Government so WIPA must adhere to this and cancel this years ceremony held at Wedge Island.
We are assessing what activities we might be able to responsibly hold over Easter and the school holidays, and will provide an update in the April WIPA Newsletter.
The WIPA committee would like to remind all members and visitors to Wedge to take action to minimise the spread of infection by: frequently washing hands with soap and water or using hand sanitiser, follow social distancing recommendations of keeping 1.5m apart where possible, avoiding touching one’s face, do not congregate in large groups in enclosed areas, this being places with walls, roof or both.
If you are feeling unwell you should follow the latest WA Health Departments advice, which can be found here: https://ww2.health.wa.gov.au/Articles/A_E/Coronavirus
